Holly Blue These are the more common than the common blue in Belper Parks. Possibly one of the legacies of having been a royal deer park where the deer were fed on Holly. Blue butterflies can only be recognised by the markings on their underside.

Large White The brassica gardener’s other enemy. These are the most often seen butterfly in flight in the Parks. The fly in cool damp weather as well as in sunshine and continue when all others are dormant.

Orange Tip (Female) The female Orange Tip is very different to the male. From the top side they are often confused with the Small White, but the underside of the wings have mottled greeny-grey patches on them
